Arvo Part - Fur Alina
This is what can come when you are looking for something -- a real search -- and music is your telescope.
This tiny little piece, just two short pages of notation, is wonderfully rich. I have been playing through it over and over again this last week. It is absolutely strange how much subtlety is contained in it.

A moving and inspiring film. Thanks for posting this, Trey.
... earlier in the week I went out and bought the sheet music too. The lady at the music shop looked at it and said, "Ah, Part, he's a funny one."
This piece has been featured in over a half-dozen films. The one I've seen, which I found enormously moving and haunting, is Gus Van Sant's "Gerry." With its skeletal plot, near-absence of dialogue, and reliance on environmental sounds and visual landscapes providing the rhythms which drive the movie, it appears to have been designed for a very small but appreciative audience who likely also enjoys the cinematic journeyings of Tarkovsky and Tarr.
"Everytime I feel I have to start from scratch." This keeps us in a state of presence, open to whatever presents itself and alive in the moment. Musicians must live this. With my work as a photographer this is what I enjoy most.
